Local Youth's Fundraising Effort Builds a Field of Dreams
DALLAS—The Dallas Independent School District, along with representatives from the Texas Rangers Baseball Foundation, will dedicate the Dave Andres Ballpark at the John F. Kennedy Learning Center at 9:30 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 6.
The ballpark was made possible by the fundraising efforts of 17-year-old Paul Stanley, a student at Greenhill, and was named for Dave Andres, a dedicated community member who worked tireless hours as a baseball coach and mentor to countless young people. Andres was also a Dallas schools graduate.
On hand for the event will be Superintendent of Schools Michael Hinojosa and Kathleen Kennedy Townsend, niece of President John Fitzgerald Kennedy.
Dale Petroskey, executive vice president of the Texas Rangers, will conclude the event with a presentation of donated baseball equipment. The ceremony will be followed by a clinic for Dallas students sponsored by the Texas Rangers and Reliant Energy.
The John F. Kennedy Learning Center is located at 1802 Moser Ave. For more information about the Dallas ISD, visit our Web site at www.dallasisd.org.
