Dallas ISD's Intake Center Hosts 2nd Annual Fall Festival To Welcome New Teachers

19 Nov 2008

Festival Scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 22

DALLAS–The Dallas Independent School District's Margaret and Gilbert Herrera Student Intake Center, 2617 N. Henderson Avenue, will welcome new teachers and their families from other countries to Dallas ISD by hosting the Second Annual Fall Festival "Taste of Texas", from 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 22.

The new teachers to be welcomed include nationals from Africa; Spain; South, Central, and North America, and the Caribbean.

Other Dallas ISD teachers who were hired from outside the country in the previous years are also welcome to the festival, which will include food, live music, door prizes, and activities for children.

Open since 2003, the Student Intake Center provides immigrant families that have school age children a one-stop location to best meet all their enrollment needs. Services are specifically designed to provide families new to this country with the needed support for a successful transition into Dallas ISD schools and its communities.
