Showcase Scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 15
DALLAS–Dallas Independent School District's current eighth-graders and their parents are invited to attend a High School Redesign Showcase at 9 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 15, at Emmett J. Conrad High School, 7502 Fair Oaks Ave.
Through the High School Redesign program, students who will be attending ninth grade in the 2009-2010 school year, can choose to attend classes at high schools that focus not only on academics but also on preparing students for a career.
The participating high schools are Bryan Adams, W. H. Adamson, David W. Carter, Emmett J. Conrad, L.G. Pinkston, W.W. Samuell, and H. Grady Spruce.
The career pathways and programs of study that are offered at these high schools include Arts, Communications, and Media; Business, Marketing, and Management; Academy of Hospitality and Tourism; Law and Criminal Justice; Academy of Math, Science, and Engineering Technology; Health and Human Services; and Engineering and Information Technology.
Application deadline is Friday, Dec. 19, 2008. Applications are available with school counselors. If accepted, the district will not provide transportation for the students.
