Seven Teachers Honored for Innovation and Dedication in the Classroom
DALLAS—Seven Dallas ISD teachers will each receive two tickets on Lufthansa Airlines for winning an essay contest sponsored by STA Travel.
Teachers were invited to write essays about what makes their classroom unique and effective and were asked to detail how they measure student success.
"It is always exciting when teachers are honored for being innovative and dedicated professionals," said Dallas ISD Superintendent of Schools Michael Hinojosa. "Dallas ISD has some of the most deserving teachers doing incredible jobs in the classroom every day, so it's great to have a company like STA Travel
STA, the largest teacher and student travel organization in the world, received 61 essays and chose one entry for each district learning community. The tickets are each valued at a maximum of $1,000.
The teachers selected are: Oliver Patrick, Florence Middle School; Debra Hood, School of Business & Management at Yvonne A. Ewell Townview Center; LaTrece Bracks, McShan Elementary School; Stephen Miller, Anne Frank Elementary School; Linda Garrett, Central Elementary School; Dawn Stewart, Umphrey Lee Elementary School; and Stephanie Winters, W.W. Samuell High School.
