2 Feb 2009

Media Event Scheduled for February 4

DALLAS–The Dallas Independent School District Department of Athletics will hosts its annual "Meet the Signees" media event on Wednesday, February 4, at noon, at Ellis Davis Field House, 9191 South Polk Street, to recognize and introduce all Dallas ISD senior student athletes who have signed college scholarships for the upcoming 2009-2010 school year.

Dallas ISD senior students who have signed college scholarships including cross country, football, soccer, track and field, volleyball and basketball early period signees for the 2009–2010 school year will be introduced and honored during the event.

"The National Letter of Intent Signing Day marks the beginning of an important phase in the life of many Dallas ISD student athletes who have worked so hard, both academically and athletically, to reach the goal of obtaining a scholarship to pursue a college career," said Athletic Director Jeff Johnson. "The district's athletic programs have not only prepared our students to succeed in different sports, but have also helped them to graduate ready for college."

Many of Dallas ISD's 22 high schools which field athletic programs will have athletes represented at the signing day event, which began in the district in 1999. The event is open to the public.
