John Eagle Dealerships to Sponsor 'School Zone Dallas' on WFAA-Channel 8

DALLAS—School Zone Dallas, the Emmy award-winning TV show hosted by Dallas ISD students, airs its first program of the new year Wednesday, January 21, on WFAA-Channel 8, at 6:30 p.m. The show will air in place of Entertainment Tonight.

School Zone Dallas focuses on the good news and outstanding people who are part of the Dallas Independent School District.

Hosted from the newly renovated Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts, School Zone Dallas will feature stories about a mock election by Dallas ISD students to elect Senator Barack Obama or Senator John McCain as the next President of the United States; the W.H. Adamson marching band's preparation for the state's UIL competition; and a special program that provides free vision exams and corrective glasses to as many as 1,500 elementary students.

Other stories include a menu melodies contest where students composed original jingles to encourage healthy eating in the lunchroom; an overview of the district's American Indian Education program; and how students in the Building Trades classes at W.W. Samuell High School have learned the importance of community donations and support.

This year's cast includes co-hosts Niesha Smith, Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts; and Flaviano Graciano, W. T. White High School. Reporters on the program are Laura Cardona, W. H. Adamson; Stephanie Aguilera, Irma Lerma Rangel Young Women's Leadership School; Olivia Fragoso, Law Magnet at Townview Center; Lorena Watson, David W. Carter; Bryce Romney, Woodrow Wilson; and Desmond Richardson, Humanities/Communications Magnet at Lincoln.
