Dallas ISD Alternative Certification Department Recruits Teaching Candidates For Next School Year

Three Information Sessions to be Held, First One Scheduled for Monday, Jan. 12

DALLAS–The Dallas Independent School District's Alternative Certification Department will host three information sessions to recruit qualified applicants for teaching positions with the district for the 2009-2010 school year.

"Recruitment efforts have begun early due to the pre-screening requirements that we must meet in order to comply with teacher certification rules," said Nell Ingram, executive director for Dallas ISD's Alternative Certification Department. "For 2009-2010 we are recruiting approximately 200 candidates for critical need areas, such as bilingual, science, and math.

The training cycle for next school year begins June 15. Application deadline is March 6.

The sessions have been scheduled as follows:

• Monday, Jan. 12, 6:30 p.m., Harold Wendell Lang Sr. Middle School, 1678 Chenault St.

• Tuesday, Feb. 10, 6:30 p.m., Hillcrest High School, 9924 Hillcrest Road.

• Saturday, Feb. 28, 10 a.m., Hillcrest High School, 9924 Hillcrest Road.
