Dallas ISD Makes Changes for 2009-2010 School Year
DALLAS—The B.F. Darrell Math, Science and Technology Vanguard will close at the end of this school year to make way for the new B.F. Darrell Male Leadership Academy which is slated to open for the 2011-2012 school year. This move calls for a change in the area's attendance zone.
Beginning with the 2009-2010 school year, students who now attend Darrell will attend either John Neely Bryan, W.W. Bushman, Elisha M. Pease, J.P Starks, Robert L. Thornton, or Whitney Young Jr. elementary schools, depending on where they live.
These elementary zone changes will result in minor secondary zone changes among Oliver Wendell Holmes, Maynard H. Jackson, Boude Storey, and Sarah Zumwalt middle schools and Franklin D. Roosevelt, A. Maceo Smith, and South Oak Cliff high schools.
In other changes, William Lipscomb Elementary School will be reconfigured from a prekindergarten through fourth-grade school to a prekindergarten through fifth-grade school.
