DALLAS–Zona Escolar de Dallas, hosted by Dallas ISD students, airs Saturday, February 21, at 10 a.m. on Univision-Channel 23. Zona Escolar de Dallas, the Spanish language version of School Zone Dallas, focuses on the good news and outstanding people that are part of the Dallas Independent School District.
Zona Escolar de Dallas has won an Emmy Award three out of the last four years from the Lone Star Emmy Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.
Hosted from Sanger Elementary in East Dallas, the show features stories from across the district. The program takes you behind the scenes to find out how Woodrow Wilson High School produces award winning musicals year after year; how Dallas ISD students pitch in to reward Dallas charities through the Common Cents program; and how the Adamson Band has grown from humble beginnings into a powerhouse marching band.
Other stories include a profile of Suzy Smith, the Dallas Independent School District's Teacher of the Year; how the business community and the city teamed up to work on a beautification project at De Zavala Elementary School; and how students and schools participated in our nation's historic presidential election.
The all-student cast includes co-hosts Laura Flores, a senior at the School of Health Professions at Townview Center, and Ivan Funes, a senior at W.T. White High School. Reporters for the program are Maraiha Correa, a senior at the Law Magnet at Townview Center; Christina Maturino, a senior at Woodrow Wilson High School; and Roxana Paniagua, a senior at Seagoville High School. Zona Escolar de Dallas is produced by Dallas Schools Television.
