School Zone Dallas To Air On KERA-Channel 13

DALLAS—The Lone Star Emmy award-winning TV show, School Zone Dallas, will air on KERA-Channel 13 beginning Friday, Feb.13, at 4:30 p.m. Other broadcast times are Sunday, Feb.15, at 9 a.m., and Monday, Feb. 16, at 5 p.m.

School Zone Dallas focuses on the good news and outstanding people who are part of the Dallas Independent School District.

Hosted from the newly renovated Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts, School Zone Dallas will feature stories about the building trades classes at W. W. Samuell High School and the importance of community support and donations; a mock election by Dallas ISD students to elect Senator Barack Obama or Senator John McCain as the next President of the United States; and a special program that provides free vision exams and corrective glasses to as many as 1,500 elementary students.

Other stories include an overview of the district's American Indian Education program and a music contest where students composed original jingles to encourage healthy eating in the lunchroom.

This year's cast includes co-hosts Niesha Smith, Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts; and Flaviano Graciano, W.T. White High School. Reporters on the program are Laura Cardona, W.H. Adamson; Stephanie Aguilera, Irma Lerma Rangel Young Women's Leadership School; Olivia Fragoso, Law Magnet at Townview Center; Lorena Watson, David W. Carter; Bryce Romney, Woodrow Wilson; and Desmond Richardson, Humanities/Communications Magnet at Lincoln.
