Show Highlights Events and Awards in the District
DALLAS—Dallas ISD has launched News Beat, a three to five minute televised news show that highlights events and activities taking place throughout the district.
Hosted by a variety of Dallas ISD students, the bi-weekly show features many of the positive things happening in the district and showcases some of the awards and honors received by students and staff alike.
The show is produced by Dallas Schools Television, the in-house production division that also produces the award winning School Zone Dallas and Zona Escolar de Dallas.
"There are so many different events and activities taking place throughout Dallas ISD, and it is important to communicate them to the community," said Superintendent of Schools Michael Hinojosa. "News Beat delivers a lot of information in just a few minutes through the power of television and video."
News Beat airs at 9 a.m., 1 p.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday on district Cable Channel 98 on Time Warner Cable System of Dallas. Plans to put it on the district Web site are underway.
As part of the Reform Governance in Action training program, the Dallas ISD Board of Trustees has developed its vision and a set of core beliefs and commitments. The vision of the board is to be the best urban district in the United States. The third of their beliefs is: We believe that educational equity and excellence will eliminate the achievement gap.
