Dallas ISD Adult Basic Education Department To Graduate About 200 Students

A Group of Dallas ISD Custodial Services Workers are Among the Graduates

DALLAS– The Dallas Independent School District's Adult Basic Education Department will host its graduation at 11 a.m., at Skyline High School, 7777 Forney Road, Saturday, April 18.

About 200 graduates will be receiving their high school diploma. Among the graduates, is a group of Dallas ISD Custodial Services workers who will now become Dallas ISD graduates.

"We hope that this group of Dallas ISD workers motivates other district employees who might not have a high school diploma to go back to school and achieve an education," said Conchis Silva, manager – Adult Basic Education Department. "The goal of Dallas ISD is to graduate every student, including those in our Adult Basic Education program, college and workforce ready."

Community organizations such as the Dallas Housing Authority, the City of Dallas Library, and the Dallas County Community College District, have been partners and supporters of Dallas ISD's Adult Basic Education program.

As part of the Reform Governance in Action training program, the Dallas ISD Board of Trustees has developed its vision and a set of core beliefs and commitments. The vision of the board is to be the best urban district in the United States. The seventh of their beliefs is: We believe that a supportive community is fundamental to achieving and sustaining our success.
