Counselor of the Year Will Be Named
DALLAS–The Dallas Independent School District will be hosting a reception at 4 p.m., Thursday, May 7, at the Center for Community Cooperation, 2900 Live Oak, to honor district counselors.
The program will include the presentation of Dallas ISD's Counselor of the Year. Other awards to be presented include the state national winners, and the character counts counselors.
"We would like to honor and thank our counselors for their hard work and dedication," said Sylvia Lopez, director – Counseling Services. "Counselors play a very important role in preparing Dallas ISD students to be college and workforce ready."
Dallas ISD has about 400 counselors who, on a daily basis, address the personal, social, academic, and career needs of students, as well as promote student success not only in schools, but also at home and in the community.
The third core belief adopted by the Board of Trustees is "we believe that educational equity and excellence will eliminate the achievement gap." For a complete list of core beliefs, visit the Web site at http://www.dallasisd.org/about/vision.htm.
