Dallas Education Foundation Has Selected the 2009 Innovative Teaching Awards Recipients

DALLAS–Seven Dallas Independent School District teachers have been selected by the Dallas Education Foundation as the 2009 Texas Instruments Foundation Innovations in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math Teaching Awards recipients. The recipients will be recognized by Texas Instruments and Dallas ISD at 10:15 a.m., Thursday, May 14, at the Administration Building, 3700 Ross Ave., room 105.

Each recipient will receive $10,000, of which $5,000 is directly awarded to the classroom teacher and the other $5,000 is to be used at the discretion of the teacher for professional development and/or instructional technology.

The award was created by the Texas Instruments Foundation to honor innovative classroom teachers who are greatly enhancing student achievement and increasing interest in science, technology, engineering and math classrooms.

"The Texas Instruments Foundation understands that effective teaching has a greater impact on learning than the student's ethnicity or family income, school attended, or class size," said Torrence Robinson, director of Public Affairs, Texas Instruments. "The STEM Fellows who teach the critical disciplines of science, technology, engineering and math, are doing extraordinary work by bringing innovative strategies and deep content knowledge to the classroom. We are proud to recognize them through these awards and to highlight them as role models for their peers."
