Parents Invited to Sign Up for Pre-enrollment Process
DALLAS—Dallas ISD elementary schools are currently holding a pre-enrollment Round Up for district students who will be prekindergarten age next year. The Round Up will begin the pre-enrollment process and inform parents of potential prekindergarten students about the school's goals and expectations, program guidelines and parental involvement opportunities.
Dallas ISD offers prekindergarten classes for children who are four years old on or before September 1 and are:
Parents are encouraged to obtain a prekindergarten pre-registration packet from their neighborhood elementary school, complete it and return it to the school. Parents should also bring the child's birth certificate, immunization record, and proof of address with them to the school at that time.
When the school receives a completed packet, it will add the child's name to the pre-registration list, assign the completed packet a number in the order it was received, and start the process of qualifying the child for prekindergarten.
Beginning in early August 2009, each school will determine the children's eligibility and notify the parent/guardian of their child's acceptance into the pre-kindergarten program.
Dallas ISD's Early Childhood Education Department offers a high quality prekindergarten program that builds the foundation for school readiness and academic success. Dallas ISD prekindergarten classes are available on a first come-first served basis. Placement at the neighborhood school is based on space availability. If the prekindergarten classes are full at the neighborhood school, children will be assigned to the closest school that has space available. Transportation is not provided for prekindergarten students.
