The free event will assist high school graduates who have not yet made college plans
DALLAS–The Dallas Independent School District will host a Major Mania event for its 2009 high school graduates at 1 p.m., Thursday, June 18, at the freshman center of North Dallas High School, 3120 N. Haskell.
The Major Mania event is a partnership between Dallas ISD, the Career Counseling Center, and the Dallas County Community Colleges. Graduates from 2009 who have not yet chosen a college or career, will be able to learn more about the special programs available at the Dallas County Community Colleges and select a college that best fits their career goals.
The one-stop shop event will provide on-site admission, as well assistance with financial aid, the Rising Star Scholarship, and selecting a major. Students must bring their social security number, if available, but not necessary. Also, students will need a copy of their parents' 2008 income tax return to fill out the FASFA form.
The Career Counseling Center also offers Dallas ISD graduates assistance with post-secondary planning and employment needs for up to one year after graduation. For more information about the Major Mania event or to make an appointment with the Career Counseling Center, call (214) 932-5180 or (214) 932-5045.
No appointment is necessary to attend the Major Mania event.
