School Bell Rings For Dallas ISD Students, Teachers And Staff

Superintendent is Among First to Greet Students

DALLAS—Dallas ISD Superintendent of Schools Michael Hinojosa was among the first to greet students and staff as they headed back to class on Monday, August 24, for the beginning of the 2009-2010 school year.

Hinojosa spent time this morning at Mary McLeod Bethune Elementary School where he toured the school and talked with teachers, parents and staff. Later he toured Moises E. Molina High School. Both schools are recognized campuses according to the Texas Education Agency ratings.

Members of the Dallas City Council also took time to visit with students, parents and staff at several schools. Council members participating included: Pauline Medrano, Vonciel Jones Hill, Sheffie Kadane, Linda Koop and Ann Margolin.

Dallas ISD begins the school year with 128 exemplary or recognized schools, up from 103 this time last school year. The projected student enrollment for the district is 157,278.
