Dallas ISD School To Participate in HP, NBA and Dallas Mavericks Program
DALLAS—HP, the NBA and the Dallas Mavericks are teaming up to launch the HP Digital Assist education grant competition. To help tip off the nationwide program, Dallas Mavericks guard Jason Terry will personally deliver HP computers and printers to students at Alex W. Spence Middle Learning Center, 9 a.m., Wednesday, September 16, to help students get started on their HP Digital Assist project.
The HP Digital Assist competition invites student teams to create sports or basketball-themed digital media projects that demonstrate their knowledge of math, science or reading. The competition runs through Nov. 20 and will include more than 5,000 students from approximately 100 selected Title 1 public schools in Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Miami, San Francisco Bay Area, and Washington, D.C.
Chosen schools will compete to win more than $80,000 in HP mobile digital classroom technology, NBA tickets and merchandise, visits from NBA stars and other awards.
Other Dallas ISD schools scheduled to compete for the grant are: Pearl C. Anderson, Edward H. Cary, E.B. Comstock, Billy Earl Dade, Fred F. Florence, Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Edison, Robert T. Hill, Oliver W. Holmes, John B. Hood, D.A. Hulcy, Maynard Jackson, Raul Quintanilla, Thomas J. Rusk, L.V. Stockard, Sam Tasby and Sarah Zumwalt.
Sponsors will announce the six regional winners of the HP mobile digital classroom grants in December 2009.
