Dallas ISD's Erasmo Seguin Community Learning Center To Receive A Gold Certification

The school will be recognized for promoting good nutrition and physical activity for children

DALLAS–The United States Department of Agriculture Deputy Under Secretary for Food, Nutrition and Consumer Services Janey Thornton will award Dallas Independent School District's Erasmo Seguin Community Learning Center a Gold Certification at 1 p.m., on Wednesday, Sept. 30.

The Gold Certification is awarded as part of the USDA's HealthierUS School Challenge program to schools that meet voluntary nutrition and physical activity standards set by the USDA Food and Nutrition Service. Schools have the opportunity to become certified as bronze, silver, or gold schools, depending on meeting certain criteria. Erasmo Seguin Community Learning Center Principal Yolanda Thompson, students, and staff will also be part of the program as well as Carla Ranger, Dallas ISD Board of Trustee – District 6.

Dallas ISD has 128 schools that are rated either exemplary or recognized by the Texas Education Agency.
