Dallas Schools Television Wins Love Star Emmy Award For Dallas ISD

A Journey to China Receives its First Lone Star Emmy Award

DALLAS—A Journey to China, a Chinese language instructional program produced by Dallas Schools Television for the Dallas Independent School District, received a Lone Star EMMY Award from the Lone Star EMMY Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. A Journey to China won in the category of Children/Youth/Teen - Program/Special/Feature/Segment.

Since 2003, Dallas Schools Television has received eight Lone Star EMMY Awards: one for A Journey to China; two for School Zone Dallas; three for Zona Escolar de Dallas; one for a story segment in School Zone Dallas; and another for Nuevos Amigos, a Spanish language instructional program.

"It is an honor just to be nominated for an EMMY, but to win is especially rewarding," stated Cathy Reaves, Dallas Schools Television director. "We are extremely proud of A Journey to China."

Brenda Yu, Deirdre de Coverley, Marcus Lopez, Hua Yang, Yang Li, and Vicky Probeck accepted the EMMY award for Dallas ISD. The 7th Annual Lone Star EMMY Awards presentation was held in the Palladium Ballroom at Gilley's Dallas on Saturday, October 17.

"Dallas ISD students are showing improvement on college readiness indicators…and (the district) has shown improvement on Broad Prize indicators. Among the comparison Texas urban districts, only Houston ISD slightly outperforms Dallas ISD."
