District employees exceeded the donation goal
DALLAS–Dallas Independent School District employees donated $379,780 to United Way. Dallas ISD employees exceeded the donation goal of $295,000.
"It is gratifying to see how district staff comes together to help the community by making donations to United Way," said Deno Harris, Director, Community Relations Department. "By donating to United Way, we are also supporting many of our students and families, because United Way is committed to building strong, successful families, and a better North Texas by delivering programs and services that meet the community's needs."
The district also exceeded in its number of Leadership Givers, which are individuals who donate at least $1,000. This year, Dallas ISD had a total of 42 Leadership Givers compared to the 35 from the 2008–2009 school year.
Dallas ISD will present two Humanitarian Awards to the districts' division/department and to the school with the highest percentage of contributions beyond the challenged goal in the 2009 - 2010 United Way Campaign. These awards will be presented at the January 20 districtwide principals' meeting.
"Dallas ISD has improved more than any other urban district in Texas and more than all but one urban district in the country in narrowing the achievement gap."
