Essilor Vision Foundation Provides Free Eye Exams and Glasses for Students
DALLAS—The Essilor Vision Foundation was honored with the Excellence in Mission Achievement Award for organizations with operating budgets under $1 million presented by the Center for Nonprofit Management in Dallas.
The Essilor Vision Foundation received the award for its Kids Vision for Life program which unites partners to bring attention to children's vision problems and actively addresses these issues.
Kids Vision for Life provides Dallas ISD students with vision screenings, eye exams and glasses, all free of charge. To date this school year, the program has provided 630 eyeglasses for district students and completed more than 4,200 vision screenings and nearly 800 eye exams. Additionally, nearly 30 children have been referred to ophthalmologists or other doctors for more serious vision or health problems.
Through the program, Essilor Vision Foundation formed an alliance with the Lions Sight and Tissue Foundation, which provides their vision coach and offers critical volunteer assistance to serve Dallas ISD children. The Lions Sight & Tissue Foundation in Lions Club District 2-X1 is committed to providing the gift of sight and literacy so that no child is left behind.
Kids Vision for Life will conduct its next eye exam at Celestino Soto Jr. Elementary School, 4510 W. Jefferson Blvd., Tuesday, December 1, from 9 a.m. to Noon. The eyeglasses will be delivered on Wednesday, December 16, at 9 a.m. Students at Herbert Marcus Elementary School, 2911 Northaven Rd., will get eye exams Thursday, December 3, from 9 a.m. to Noon and their eyeglasses will be delivered Friday, December 18, at 9 a.m.
