Dallas ISD Board Of Trustees Adopts School Calendar For The 2010-2011 School Year

Classes will begin Monday, Aug. 23

DALLAS–The Dallas Independent School District Board of Trustees has adopted the school calendar for the 2010–2011 school year. Following the adopted calendar, classes for the 2010–2011 school year will begin Monday, Aug. 23.

The calendar was created by a calendar committee. The committee is made up of central office administrators and support staff who have responsibilities for designating specific dates for the calendar, as well as representatives from schools and learning communities, parents, and community individuals.

Below are highlights of the adopted calendar:

Students Begin, August 23

Elementary Fair Day, October 1

Secondary Fair Day, October 8

Fall Parent Conferences, October 12, 13, 14

Thanksgiving Break, November 24–26

Winter Break, December 20–31

First Semester Ends, January 14

Spring Break, March 14–18

Spring Parent Conferences, March 8, 9, 10

Inclement Weather Days, April 22 and May 23

Students' Last Day, June 2

The 2010–2011 school year will have a total of 175 instructional days, and includes seven Staff Development Days, four Teacher Preparation Days, and two Early Release Days.
