North Dallas High School Staff Will Host a Reception to Honor Student LaShaun Steward on Wednesday, Jan. 20
DALLAS–LaShaun Steward, an 11th grader at Dallas Independent School District's North Dallas High School, has been accepted to participate in the United States House of Representatives Page Program in Washington, D.C.
From the earliest Congresses, Pages have been employed by the House of Representatives to assist Members in their duties. "House Pages" as the students are known, live, work, and study in Washington D.C. In addition to their responsibilities as support staff, to the Member of the U.S. House of Representatives, Pages are required to attend the Page School to continue with their academics.
The program is open to high school juniors throughout the country, with a 3.0 GPA or higher in the core academic subjects. All applicants must be at least 16 years old by the date they begin their Page term. Pages, which are selected by the Majority and Minority leadership, must be sponsored by a Member of Congress.
The North Dallas High School staff will be hosting a reception to honor Steward on Wednesday, Jan. 20, at 4 p.m., in the school's library. North Dallas High School is located at 3120 N. Haskell Ave.
Steward will depart to Washington D.C. on Friday, Jan. 22. She will participate in the Page program from Jan. 25 through June 4.
