Dallas ISD's List Of Higher Performing Schools To Be Announced By Just For Kids Campaign

20 Jan 2010

Announcement to be made during the National Center for Education Achievement's symposium in Dallas

DALLAS–The National Center for Educational Achievement (NCEA) will release the Dallas Independent School District's Just for the Kids Campaign for Higher Performing Schools list on Thursday, January 21, at noon, in the auditorium of the Administration Building, 3700 Ross Ave.

NCEA identifies schools whose students consistently achieved more academic growth, based on Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (TAKS) exam. The top five percent of schools whose students met NCEA's College and Career Readiness Targets also made the list. Last year, Dallas ISD had 47 schools on the list.

The announcement of the Dallas ISD's Just for the Kids Campaign for Higher Performing Schools will coincide with the NCEA's regional symposium in Dallas, featuring several distinguished Texas education leaders and practitioners.

The day-long symposium will address the importance of college and career readiness for all Texas students. State Representative Diane Patrick will discuss current issues in Texas education. The events also feature prominent district leaders and educators from Aldine, Austin, Carrollton-Farmers Branch, Cypress-Fairbanks, Dallas, El Paso, Houston, Leander, and Round Rock independent school districts who will offer their strategies to help students meet higher college and career readiness standards.
