NBA Stars Gathered for a Day of Community Service Repairing and Renovating School
DALLAS—NBA stars, in town recently for the All-Star weekend, made a lasting impression on the Dallas ISD as well-known athletes gave back to the community by helping to repair and renovate David G. Burnet Elementary School.
Through the NBA Day of Service, the school received library books, shelving, carpet, hoops, sports courts, murals, cafeteria tables, plants for the school perimeter, computers, and computer tables, and the interior of the school was painted.
The day of service was part of the NBA Cares All-Star Community Caravan which featured several hands-on community service events that took place during the week. Members of the National Basketball Association family, including All-Stars, NBA and WNBA players and Legends, and NBA Development League players joined NBA partners and guests to work together on more than 25 service projects and events to make a lasting impact on North Texas communities.
Players lending a hand at Burnet included Kobe Bryant, Chris Bosh, Shaquille O'Neal, Carmelo Anthony, former NBA great Magic Johnson and many others.
