Deadlines Approaching; Students Encouraged to Apply Quickly
DALLAS—There are still several scholarship opportunities available to graduating seniors heading off to college in the fall.
The Texas Hospitality Association, in connection with State Rep. Roberto Alonzo of Dallas, is offering a $5,000 scholarship to the winner of a poster contest challenging graduating seniors to create a poster that speaks out against underage drinking. The poster must emphasize the message that it's illegal for young people under 21 to consume or purchase alcoholic beverages in Texas.
The contest deadline is May 14. Students may download the scholarship guidelines from the Texas Hospitality Association at www.texashospitalityassociation.com or by calling Rep. Alonzo's office at (214) 942-7104.
Scholarship opportunities are also available through the Communities Foundation of Texas, which oversees millions of dollars for philanthropic organizations that want to fund meaningful causes across the community. Seniors are invited to view and download applications and information on these scholarships at www.cftexas.org.
