Atmos Energy Volunteers Spruce Up Dallas ISD Campus; Mayor Will Visit May 6

DALLAS—The Martin Luther King Jr. Learning Center will be buzzing with activity as Atmos Energy volunteers converge on the campus to give the school a facelift as part of Operation Front Door.

Operation Front Door is a partnership between The Dallas North Chamber, the City of Dallas Mayor's Office and local businesses to beautify campuses throughout Dallas ISD.

Over a three-day period, May 5-7, Atmos Energy volunteers will paint, landscape and install pavers at the school. Dallas ISD crews are busy doing preliminary work before the volunteers arrive and are preparing to erect a commemorative plaque featuring the words of Martin Luther King Jr. selected by the students. The plaque will be erected at the front of the school to welcome and inspire students, staff and visitors as they arrive each day.

Mayor Leppert is scheduled to visit the school at noon, May 6, to see the transformation firsthand. The school is located at 1817 Warren Ave.

"Top two public high schools in the country-School for the Talented and Gifted and School for Science and Engineering. Finding great schools is hard; finding our list's two top schools close together in the same building is beyond belief."
