Students to Attend the Hispanic Youth Symposium at Southern Methodist University
DALLAS–Approximately 170 Dallas Independent School District high school students will experience college life for four days while attending the second Dallas Hispanic Youth Symposium at Southern Methodist University from June 16 through June 19.
The symposium is sponsored by Dallas ISD, SMU, the Hispanic College Fund, and other businesses and organizations.
Through the program, students will be able to develop a network of peers and mentors, learn about resources and tools for college, develop a long-term career vision, and experience being "college students" while staying overnight in the dorms. The symposium will include workshops and networking opportunities. In addition, competitions will be held for college scholarships.
The opening ceremony will be at 4 p.m., on Wednesday, June 16, at the auditorium of the Meadows School of the Arts/Owen Arts Center, 6101 Bishop Blvd. The closing ceremony is scheduled for Saturday, June 19, at 9 a.m., at the same location as the opening ceremony.
