News Conference Scheduled for Thursday at 10 a.m.
DALLAS–Dallas Independent School District and Dallas Mayor Tom Leppert will outline plans for the Mayor's Back to School Fair during a news conference at 10 a.m., Thursday, July 22, at Ignacio Zaragoza Elementary School, 4550 Worth St.
Also, during the news conference Mayor Leppert will make a final push to get students pre-registered. Volunteers will pre-register parents for the fair during the news conference.
The event will include student performances. Also, students will receive free books thanks to the Junior League of Dallas' sponsorship of the Fair's Book Nook/Storytime and Half Price Books' donation of 9,000 books. In addition, students at the news conference will be presented University of Phoenix/Dallas Cowboys backpacks to promote the upcoming July 30-31 pre-registration events.
Other program participants include Dallas ISD's Chief of Staff Arnold Viramontes, representatives from Walmart/Sam's Club, Chase and MetroPCS. Also joining the event will be Dallas Cowboys' mascot Rowdy and Dallas Mavericks' mascots Mavs Man and Champ.
