Group Culminates Months of Leadership Training With Conference in Washington, DC

DALLAS—Student participants from area high schools spent time this summer attending the Texas Leadership Forum in Washington, DC, hosted by U.S. Congressman Pete Sessions (R-Dallas).

The week-long conference gave select students a unique perspective of the inner-workings of national government and focused on public policy debates.

During the forum, students heard from several Washington leaders and attended meetings at the White House, the Pentagon, the Drug Enforcement Agency, INTERPOL and the Taiwanese Embassy.

The Texas Leadership Forum is sponsored by the Today Foundation and selects students based on their academic performance, community involvement and leadership qualities. Students are chosen in the fall and participate in months of leadership training during the school year. The forum culminates each year with a week-long trip to Washington, DC, during the summer.

The leadership forum seeks to foster civic involvement, leadership and character building in participants while educating them about government and public policy.
