'Fuel Up to Play 60' Program Celebrates Student and School Commitment to Improved Nutrition and Physical Activity

DALLAS–The Dallas Independent School District, along with the Dallas Cowboys, and Dairy MAX will kick off the second annual Fuel Up to Play 60 program, an in-school nutrition and physical activity program launched by National Dairy Council. The program will be kicked off during a news conference at 10 a.m., Tuesday, Sept. 21, at George Bannerman Dealey Montessori Vanguard and International Academy, 6501 Royal Lane.

Former Dallas Cowboys player Daryl Johnston and current Cowboys player Bradie James will make a special appearance at the school to talk to children about eating healthy and being active for 60 minutes a day.

Students will have a tasting of healthier school meals and will participate in an obstacle course.

"Dallas ISD has improved more than any other urban district in Texas and more than all but one urban district in the country in narrowing the achievement gap."
