Local Leaders Became 'Principals For A Day' In Dallas ISD Schools

6 Oct 2010

Leaders Experienced the Responsibilities that Dallas ISD Principals Encounter on a Daily Basis

DALLAS–Corporate, social, professional, civic and community leaders took over more than half of Dallas Independent School District schools as they left their jobs to become "Principals for a Day" on Tuesday, October 5.

"Principals for a Day" started their day by greeting students as they arrived to school, made morning announcements, met with the faculty to learn about the day-to-day operations of a school, visited classrooms, and had other responsibilities as guest principals.

Sponsored by Capital One Bank, in partnership with the Dallas Regional Chamber, the Principal for a Day program gives community leaders the opportunity to experience firsthand what Dallas ISD principals encounter on a daily basis. In addition, the program is designed to increase awareness and understanding among individuals in the private sector of the strengths and challenges of schools in the district. It also demonstrates the private sector's commitment to ensuring quality public education for all students and forming ongoing partnerships between individuals, businesses and Dallas ISD.

At the end of the day, "Principals for a Day" participated in a reception as a token of appreciation for partnering with Dallas ISD schools and dedicating part of their time to district students.
