SEM and TAG Students Recognized for Academic Achievement on AP Exams
DALLAS—The top two Advanced Placement (AP) students in Texas for 2010 are graduates of the Yvonne A. Ewell Townview Center. Benjamin Bell, School of Science and Engineering, Class of 2010, and Sarah Edris, School for the Talented and Gifted, Class of 2010, were named the top male and top female AP scholar in the state of Texas.
The award is given to the top male and female student in each state and the District of Columbia with scores of three or higher on the greatest number of AP exams. Bell scored 3 or higher on 24 AP exams, and Edris scored 3 or higher on 20 AP exams. Both students are currently attending Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
The College Board's Advanced Placement Program provides motivated and academically prepared students with the opportunity to take rigorous college-level courses while still in high school and allows them to earn college credit, advanced placement, or both for successful performance on the AP exams.
