The Show is Hosted by Dallas ISD Students

DALLAS─Zona Escolar de Dallas, hosted by Dallas Independent School District students, airs Saturday, October 23 at 10 a.m. on KUVN-Channel 23. The Spanish language version of School Zone Dallas airs through a unique partnership with this Univision affiliate. KUVN-Channel 23, a strong supporter of education, performs a true public service by airing this program at no cost to the district. Zona Escolar de Dallas focuses on the good news and outstanding people who are part of the Dallas ISD.

Hosted from Trinidad "Trini" Garza Early College at Mountain View College, this first show of the new school year takes a look at Education is Freedom, a college readiness program; and Little Kids Rock, a non-profit organization that works with school districts all over the country to restore and revitalize music programs in our schools.

Other segments include a special program at Emmett J. Conrad High School where students get hands-on experience through the Academy of Hospitality & Tourism; a preview of News Beat and Aquí en Dallas ISD, two of Dallas ISD's news programs; and highlights of Tom W. Field Elementary School, rated Exemplary by the Texas Education Agency.

This year's all-female cast of Zona Escolar de Dallas includes co-hosts Erika Ipiña, the School of Business and Management at Yvonne A. Ewell Townview Center, and Jatsive Hernandez, W.T. White High School. Reporters on the program are Yarixa Ramirez, W.H. Adamson High School; Monica Resendiz, Irma Lerma Rangel Young Women's Leadership School; and Nancy Salas, Skyline High School.
