7 Dec 2010

Alan King of Lewisville ISD to Take Reins from Retiring CFO Larry Throm

DALLAS-The Dallas Independent School District today announced that Alan King of the Lewisville Independent School District has been hired as the district's new chief financial officer.

King is currently the Deputy Superintendent in Lewisville ISD and is responsible for all financial operations for the 50,000-student district. He served in similar positions for both the Goose Creek and Harlingen school districts.

King will take over for outgoing Dallas ISD Chief Financial Officer Larry Throm, who announced his retirement in November.

"Alan King has been a leader in Texas school finance for 33 years," said Dallas ISD Superintendent of Schools Michael Hinojosa. "His experience and accomplishments as a CFO in three Texas school districts during that period indicates that he will be an excellent successor to Larry Throm."

King's list of accomplishments include:

In his present position, King oversees budgeting, purchasing, payroll, accounting, technology, maintenance, operations, construction, physical education and athletics. When he begins next month, he will have many of the same responsibilities in Dallas ISD.

"I am honored to be selected for this position," said King. "My experience in the Lewisville, Goose Creek and Harlingen school districts has prepared me for this responsibility in Dallas ISD. Dallas has made some meaningful strides in its financial operations during the past two years under the leadership of Larry Throm and I plan to continue that important work."

King's first day with Dallas ISD will be January 18. His salary has yet to be approved by the Dallas ISD board of trustees.
