27 Jan 2011

The Initiative is a Partnership Between Dallas ISD, NFL Players, NIKE, and Real School Gardens

DALLAS–As part of the Super Bowl 2011 celebrations, a learning garden will be unveiled for students at Dallas Independent School District's Ronald E. McNair Elementary School, 3150 Bainbridge Ave., on Wednesday, Feb. 2.

The event is a partnership between NIKE's NFL PLAYERS Live! In the Community program, NFL Players, NIKE, Real School Gardens, and Dallas ISD. The garden will help students succeed academically, adopt healthy lifestyles, and revitalize their neighborhood.

The initiative also will provide healthy living clinics for students at McNair Elementary. Through the clinics, students will learn how to plant vegetables, guide earth science stations, and learn about healthy living choices.

NFL players Nate Jones, Denver Broncos and former Dallas Cowboy; Minnesota Vikings Sidney Rice, E.J. Henderson, Frank Walker, and Bernard Berrian; Mike Thomas, Jacksonville Jaguars and graduate from DeSoto High School; and David Clowney, Carolina Panthers, will be present at the events.

The events will take place from 9 a.m. to noon. Media must RSVP for access to the campus and/or prearranged opportunities. To RSVP, contact David Cooper at (917) 716-8566 or via e-mail at david@mvppr.com.
