Page Has Served in Dallas ISD for 14 Years
DALLAS–Torey Page has been named principal for the new Wilmer-Hutchins Elementary School, which will open August 2011.
Page started his career as an educator 14 years ago at Dallas Independent School District's Lakewood Elementary School. At that time, he was a physical education teacher. During his time in Dallas ISD, Page has also served as a teacher at Frederick Douglass Elementary School. He later served as an associate principal at Fred F. Florence Middle School and then at Kathlyn Joy Gilliam Collegiate Academy.
"Torey Page has the perfect skill sets for opening Wilmer-Hutchins Elementary School," said Shirley Ison-Newsome, senior executive director of the Southeast Elementary Learning Community. "Not only his well-grounded instructional skills, but also his presence and perspective of a good campus administrator, will help him to welcome the children and parents back home to their new school after several years of being transported across Dallas. Mr. Page has already established great relationships and partnerships within the Wilmer and Hutchins communities so that the school will be ready to receive and provide an excellent educational experience for the students."
"I have been blessed with the opportunity to have a major role in the rebirth and rejuvenation of the Wilmer-Hutchins Elementary School and its community," said Page. "I am looking forward to Wilmer-Hutchins Elementary being the cornerstone of learning for the community in a place they can call home."
Page has a Bachelors of Science in Education degree from Wiley College and a Masters of Educational Administration from the University of Phoenix.
On August 22, first day of school for the 2011–2012 school year, Wilmer Hutchins Elementary School will welcome approximately 810 pre-kinder through fifth grade students.
Dallas ISD has 66 Exemplary Schools and 59 Recognized Schools during the 2010-11 school year, according to the Texas Education Agency.
