Finalists Announced For Dallas ISD's Teacher Of The Year Award

2011–2012 Teacher of the Year Will Be Announced May 16

DALLAS–The Dallas Independent School District announced its four finalists for the 2011–2012 Teacher of the Year award.

The finalists are:



A committee of judges selected the semifinalists and finalists based on a number of criteria including the ability to inspire a drive for excellence in a diverse student population; commitment to professional development and contributions to the teaching profession; awareness of current issues in education; level of community involvement; and quality of interactions with parents and peers.

The semifinalists are: Belinda Moran, Esperanza "Hope" Medrano Elementary; DeeAnn Rath, Rosemont Elementary; Jackqueline Nelson, Harold Wendell Lang Sr. Middle School; Jessica Guthrie, John Leslie Patton Jr. Academic Center; Joshua Newton, School of Science and Engineering at Yvonne A. Ewell Townview Center; Renfreu Dennis, Central Elementary; Stephany Hale, Martha Turner Reilly Elementary; Vanessa Rodriguez, J.L. Long Middle School.

Dallas ISD's 2011-2012 Teacher of the Year will be announced at an awards program sponsored by H-E-B Central Market on Monday, May 16, at 6 pm, at the Women's Museum at Fair Park, 3800 Parry Ave.
