Superintendent Scholarships Recognize Students for Academic Achievement,Commitment to Others and Outstanding Character</>


DALLAS—Sixty-two Dallas ISD high school seniors received college scholarships during the Superintendent's Scholarship Reception held recently at Emmett J. Conrad High School.</>

Each recipient was presented a $2,000 scholarship for displaying outstanding character, demonstrating commitment to others and upholding high academic standards.</>

The scholarships are funded by the proceeds from the annual Superintendent's Scholarship Golf Classic.</>

In addition, the annual Joe May Scholarship was presented to Monterrio D. Jones, a student at W.W. Samuell High School. Roberto Garza, a student at Judge Barefoot Sanders Magnet Center for Public Service: Government, Law and Law Enforcement, was awarded the Rev. Amado S. Hinojosa Scholarship honoring the father of Dallas ISD Superintendent of Schools Michael Hinojosa. The SchoolMessenger Scholarship was presented to Whitney L. Hicks, a student at L.G. Pinkston High School, and Juliana M. Hossu, a student at the School of Science and Engineering at Yvonne A. Ewell Townview Center, received the Parsons Scholarship Award Honoring Dr. Nolan Estes.</>
