An awards program is scheduled for Monday, May 16
DALLAS– The Dallas Independent School District will announce the 2011–2012 Teacher of the Year and Teacher Assistant of the Year during an awards program on Monday, May 16, at 6 p.m., at the Women's Museum at Fair Park, 3800 Parry Ave.</>
H-E-B Central Market, the awards program's sponsor, will present $5,000 to the Teacher of the Year and $1,000 to the finalists. The Teacher Assistant of the Year will receive $1,500 and each finalist $250.</>
The finalists for the 2011–2012 Teacher of the Year are:</>
PreK-2 – Chris Nichols, Anne Frank Elementary
3-6 – Deanne Paiva, William L. Cabell Elementary
6-8– Nneka McGee, Dallas Environmental Science Academy
9-12– Karen Marx, North Dallas High School
The 2011–2012 finalists for the Teacher Assistant of the Year award are:
Angela Linco–Martin Weiss Elementary – Southwest Learning Community
Camille Goode–John Ireland Elementary – Southeast Learning Community
Amparo Arellano–David G. Burnet Elementary – Northwest Learning Community
Mattie Pipkins–Paul L. Dunbar Learning Center – Northeast Learning Community
Shirley Whaley–Hillcrest High School – Secondary Learning Community
