DALLAS– Students from 16 Dallas Independent School District schools that participate in the Little Kids Rock music program will come together on Saturday, May 14 to showcase their musical skills in the third annual Dallas Jam Summit, sponsored by Little Kids Rock.
Little Kids Rock is a nonprofit that transforms children's lives by restoring and revitalizing music education in public schools in Dallas and 25 other cities nationwide. Nearly 9,500 students from 87 Dallas ISD schools and nearly 75,000 students nationwide benefit from Little Kids Rock, which trains teachers in its innovative curriculum and donates the instruments and resources necessary to run modern music programs in schools which are threatened by budget cuts.
The Little Kids Rock's 3rd Annual Dallas Jam Summit will take place from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., at George Bannerman Dealey Montessori Academy, 6501 Royal Lane. The agenda for the event is as follows:
11 a.m. to noon – Workshops
Noon to 2:15 p.m. – Lunch and Sound checks
2:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. – Concert
Participating schools include: Anne Frank Elementary School, Casa View Elementary School, César Chávez Learning Center, Clinton P. Russell Elementary School, George Bannerman Dealey Montessori Academy, J. T. Brashear Elementary, Jack Lowe Sr. Elementary School, Joseph J. Rhoads Learning Center, John H. Reagan Elementary School, K.B. Polk Vanguard Center for Academically Talented and Gifted, Onesimo Hernandez Elementary School, Paul L. Dunbar Learning Center, Seagoville High School, Seagoville Middle School, Sidney Lanier Expressive Arts Vanguard, Thomas A. Edison Middle Learning Center, and Victor H. Hexter Elementary School.
