Principals Select Students for Maintaining High Academic Standards; Students Select Teachers for Positive Impact
DALLAS—Dallas ISD will join with the IBM Corporation to honor 53 Dallas ISD seniors and the teachers who inspired them at the 2011 Academic Recognition Program, 7 p.m., Tuesday, May 17, at the Renaissance Hotel.
The awards honor graduating seniors for their commitment to upholding high academic standards. High school principals selected student recipients from among their school's current graduating class based on academic criteria, performance in the classroom, extra-curricular school involvement and community service. Selected students were required to be in the top 5 percent of their graduating class.
Each student honoree selected an outstanding teacher who contributed to their academic success. The teacher will be recognized along with the student during the event.
