Central Market Celebrates Ten Years and $150K of Support for Dallas' Best Educators

Classroom Surprise Parties Follow Unveiling of Dallas ISD's Teacher & Teacher Assistant of the Year


WHO: Karen Marx, 2011-12 Dallas ISD Teacher of the Year, Angela Linco, 2011-12 Dallas ISD Teacher Assistant of the Year, Dallas ISD and Central Market representatives

WHAT: At Monday evening's Tenth Annual Dallas ISD Teacher and Teacher Assistant of the Year awards banquet, sponsored by Central Market, winners Karen Marx and Angela Linco were announced among an audience of fellow finalists, family and administrators and presented with a total of $6,500 in cash from the specialty retailer.

To share the excitement with students and school faculty, Central Market will arrive on each educators' campus Tuesday morning to host an impromptu party, complete with cake and balloons, to congratulate each of them on being named the Dallas ISD 2011-2012 Teacher and Teacher Assistant of the Year.

WHEN: Tuesday, May 17, 2011,8:15 a.m. – Angela Linco and 9:15 a.m. – Karen Marx

WHERE: Angela Linco's Classroom at Martin Weiss Elementary and Karen Marx's Classroom at North Dallas High School

WHY: Ms. Marx and Ms. Linco were named winners of the Dallas ISD Teacher and Teacher Assistants of the Year Awards, respectively, at a ceremony Monday evening that also honored their fellow finalists. Both award programs celebrate education excellence in Dallas and pay tribute to educators who demonstrate the highest standards of public education. Ms. Marx will represent the district in the regional Teacher of the Year competition.

A selection committee selected Ms. Marx and Ms. Linco as the Dallas ISD's Teacher and Teacher Assistant of the Year based on essays and interviews covering teaching excellence; ability to inspire a love of learning in students; effective working relationships with students, parents and members of the community; and commitment and contributions to the teaching profession.

Central Market/H-E-B has partnered with the Dallas ISD on its awards program for ten years, contributing more than $150,000 in support over the last decade, including the $10,500 in cash awards for the finalists each year.

As the largest supporter of public education in Texas, H-E-B annually contributes more than $4 million to education related programs.
