53 Students Chosen for Honor

DALLAS—Dallas ISD paid tribute to 53 graduating seniors and the teachers who inspired them at the 4th Annual Academic Recognition Banquet last night.

Each high school principal was asked to nominate students who were in the top 5 percent of their graduating class. In addition to their academic achievement, students had to be school leaders, actively involved in their community and in extracurricular activities.

During the banquet, Superintendent of Schools Michael Hinojosa praised the students for their commitment to excellence and thanked teachers for their dedication to making a difference in the lives of their students.

Steve Pickett, CBS 11, served as the master of ceremonies.

Graduation exercises get underway May 26 – June 5 across the district. Dallas ISD is expecting to graduate more than 7,000 seniors—the largest number of graduates since 1983.
