Dallas ISD's Jeff Johnson Named Outstanding Athletic Director

18 May 2011

Award Recognizes Positive Impact on Young Athletes

DALLAS— Jeff Johnson, Dallas ISD athletic director, won the Outstanding Director of Athletics Award from Positive Coaching Alliance-Dallas for his positive impact on youth athletes. Johnson accepted his award at PCA-Dallas' inaugural North Texas Double-Goal Coach® Awards Dinner earlier this month.

The dinner also honored 10 Dallas-area youth and high school sports coaches with the Double-Goal Coach Award, named for coaches whose first goal is winning, and whose second, more-important goal is teaching life lessons through sports. Johnson has been a pioneer in this movement, striking a bold agreement with PCA-Dallas to provide Double-Goal Coach training and certification to all 800-plus Dallas ISD coaches.

"Jeff says he got into coaching because he loves working with kids and having a positive impact on their lives," said Barry Smink, PCA-Dallas executive director. "As an athletic director with a great deal of influence on the sporting experience of more than 16,000 student-athletes, he certainly has that impact. Jeff is committed to supporting all Dallas ISD coaches by giving them what they need to succeed and to help their athletes succeed on and off the field."
