DALLAS—A groundbreaking ceremony for the Adelfa Botello Callejo Elementary School will be held Thursday, May 26, 10 a.m., at the site of the new school, 7817 Military Parkway.

Dallas ISD School Board trustees Nancy Bingham, District 4, and Edwin Flores, District 1, will join Adelfa Botello Callejo, Superintendent Michael Hinojosa and Lisa DeVeaux, senior executive director of the Northeast Elementary Learning Community, to celebrate the occasion. Students from Frank Guzick and Urban Park elementary schools are expected to participate in the ceremony.

Adelfa Botello Callejo Elementary School is scheduled to open August 2012 and will accommodate more than 800 students in pre-k through fifth-grade. The school will be a 97,000 sq. ft., environmentally sustainable facility designed to meet both the Dallas ISD sustainable design board policy and the City of Dallas Green Building Ordinance, with improved energy performance features.

In the event of inclement weather, the ceremony will be held at Forester Field House, 8233 Military Parkway.
