Proposal to help create aligned services for over-age, under-credited students in Dallas ISD
DALLAS A proposal to close Barbara M. Manns High School and Otto M. Fridia Jr. Alternative High School will be presented at a community meeting set for 5:30-6:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 25, at the Maria Luna Food Services Auditorium, 1515 Grand Ave.
Dallas ISD administrators are proposing the closure of the two programs to provide aligned, coherent services for over-age, under-credited students. The proposal will allow accountability for the schools that provide the services to students and represents a significant cost savings for the district by streamlining the services for over-age students.
Students who would qualify for the Manns and Fridia programs may choose to remain at their home campuses and take additional classes through the Reconnection Centers or at the evening academies. They also have the option of enrolling at the John Leslie Patton Jr. Academic Center, which is designed to help students earn credits with an accelerated curriculum to catch up to peers of the same age.
