Read. Play. Win! Pep Rally to Celebrate Top Readers
DALLAS—Students at William B. Miller Elementary School will rally at 9 a.m., Friday, May 27, to cheer for literacy and celebrate with fellow student Alicia Hudson who won the Read. Play. Win! challenge by reading the most books. Alicia read 534 books and will be featured in a Future Phoenix billboard campaign for University of Phoenix.
Read. Play. Win! is an innovative, research-driven program using incentives to encourage students in Dallas ISD to read books. The initiative is sponsored by University of Phoenix, the Dallas Cowboys Foundation, and Dallas ISD.
"We had 119 schools represented with over 2,013 students participating in this campaign," said Dallas ISD Director of Library Media Services Gay Patrick. "Reading as a life-long skill is the most important skill a student can develop. Reading goes hand-in-hand with creative thinking and ethics to become a life-long user of information."
The pep rally will feature Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders, Rowdy, the Dallas Cowboys Mascot, and representatives from University of Phoenix who will recognize the top reader and award special prizes to other top readers.
The school is located at 3111 Bonnie View.
