Students will experience college life from June 15 through June 28
DALLAS–Dallas Independent School District students who will attend 10th and 11th grade next school year will participate in the 2011 Dallas Hispanic Youth Institute Kick-Off from June 15-June 18 on the Southern Methodist University campus.
Hosted by the Hispanic College Fund and Southern Methodist University, the Hispanic Youth Institute Kick-Off will offer students the opportunity to develop a network of peers and mentors, learn about resources and tools for college, develop a long-term career vision, and experience being "college students" while staying overnight in the dorms. In addition, the symposium will include competitions for $10,500 available in college scholarship funds. Students also will meet with college admissions officers from across the country.
The opening ceremony will be at 4 p.m., Wednesday, June 15, at the Caruth Auditorium of the Meadows School of the Arts/Owen Arts Center, 6101 Bishop Blvd. The closing ceremony is scheduled for Saturday, June 18, at 9 a.m., at the same location as the opening ceremony.
